Batmobile versus Formel 1 Toyota

Posted on July 8th, 2008 in Cars by Salomonsson

Remember the 2006 Monaco Grand Prix? How about a refresher – Fernando Alonso took the checkered flag, but all eyes on the podium weren’t focused on the Spanish champion…they were on David Coulthard, who stood on the third step of the podium in a red cape. (Yeah, seriously.) The scarlet accessory was part of a commercial agreement that saw Red Bull Racing promoting Superman Returns. Few expected DC to score that podium finish (it was the first for the new team) but there he stood.

This year, it appears that the Justice League has switched allegiance, as Toyota has announced a similar arrangement to promote the upcoming Batman movie The Dark Knight . No word yet on whether Jarno Trulli (who took third in last week’s French Grand Prix) and Timo Glock (last year’s GP2 champion) will have to wear black capes if they make it onto the podium, but their racing suits are tipped to feature a Batman theme, as will the cars themselves.

But that’s not all: during the British Grand Prix, the new Batmobile and Bat-Pod was on the display at Silverstone, and the Batmobile also hit the track for a run around the circuit alongside the Toyota TF108.

Finally a 5* Krell iPod Dock - Kid and Papa combo !

Posted on July 8th, 2008 in Hifi by Salomonsson

"Hey man, check out my $4000 combo iPod dock / Class A amp playing a 128kbps MP3 file! Listen to that brittle high-end… it’s like you’re in the room with the computer that compressed this file!"

This is one product that aims to satisfy iPod fanboys and uncompromising audiophiles alike. Krell’s Papa Dock and KID combo is a step ahead of the competition, designed based on an old-school separate component approach to fine music.

The KID may also be a first of its kind, featuring performance-centric class A electronics, high-end balanced XLR audio output and a built-in iPod dock, all in a beefy 10-pound metallic kit, according to Audio Junkies. Designed to complement the KID is the Papa Dock, which holds the above-mentioned deck and provides up to 150 watts of clean high-current amplification for your speakers.

To maintain a near-seamless experience, the amplifier is further loaded with an auto-sensing function and powers up on demand.

Worlds Cheapest Bicycle Costs Just $30, Don’t Leave It Out in the Rain

Posted on June 29th, 2008 in Cars by Salomonsson

A 21-year-old student from the UK has designed a cardboard bicycle that he has dubbed "the ultimate green machine ." Supporting anyone up to 168 pounds, the frame, which costs around $6 to make, is made from the cardboard used in industrial packaging, whilst the wheels and chain are standard bike issue, and will cost around $24.

Phil Bridge , who is studying Industrial Design, came up with the idea as he was researching reasons why people don’t use pedal power to get around town. "A typical round town bike can cost several hundred pounds," says Mr Bridge. "That’s a large investment for people who aren’t sure whether they will use it. The idea of cardboard is to completely devalue the bike".

The bike is still at prototype stage, and Mr Bridge says he still needs to finalize the design. "The prototype does work but it is still quite limited and there are a few problems," he says. Rain, however, is not one of them, he claims.

Well if that ain’t a Krazywish, I have no idea what is.

Money clip ? Ahh you can’t afford it.

Posted on June 28th, 2008 in Fashion by Salomonsson

What could say “I’m rich” better than paying for your morning coffee with a bill pulled from the world’s most expensive money clip?

World's most expensive money clip

The Hou Yi money clip, handmade by Chinese craftsman Li Bosheng, is made of 14 karat gold and high-grade sterling silver. The part that really makes this a special money clip, though, is the centerpiece—a hunk of chiseled Hetian jade.

As it is only found in two rivers in Xinjiang, China, this white jade is extremely rare. In fact, it is likely that the supply will be completely depleted within five years. It is considered the most valuable jade in the world and was used by Chinese emperors in their personal seals.

The stone is treated as its pedigree demands. Li Bosheng is known as a master jade craftsman and, as you can see, the final piece does justice to both the artist and the medium.

The most expensive money clip in the world is made to order and requires an estimated 4-5 weeks to be completed. A Hou Yi money clip will set you back $5,600. Of course, in order to make use of it, you’ll have to carry around actual paper money.

Didn’t think of that, did ya?

Well if you can put up the money, feel free to order the clip here

Top 4: Delicious burgers (…but EXPENSIVE!)

Posted on June 28th, 2008 in Food by Salomonsson

Just because the hamburger is undoubtedly a signature fast food item, doesn’t mean that you can’t treat yourself and empty your pockets by tasting one of the world’s most expensive burgers. For those with money to blow, there are some very pricey—and hopefully very tasty—burgers available, and you’ll never guess who has recently come out with the most expensive burger in the world.

World's most expensive burger - the Fleurburger
The Fleurburger

#4 FleurBurger 5000 - around $75

Are you willing to part with $5,000 for one, though? Renowned chef Hubert Keller thinks you might be. His FleurBurger 5000 is available at Fleur de Lys, a traditional French restaurant located in Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. They’ll even mail a certificate to your home just to prove that you ate the world’s most expensive hamburger.

So how do you rationalize a five grand price tag for a hamburger? Well, you could start with the fact that the burger itself is made of Kobe beef. You could, then, move on to the foie gras—that’s duck or goose liver—and black truffles with which the burger is topped. You could even point out that the hamburger is served on a brioche truffle bun and is garnished with a sauce containing even more truffles. Then again, it could be the bottle of Chateau Pétrus 1990 and Ichendorf Brunello stemware, specially imported from Italy, which you get to take home. Yeah, that might be it.

Of course, if you actually want the world’s most expensive burger, rather than the most expensive burger-and-wine combo, then you may have to look elsewhere. The Fleurburger can be ordered by itself for a mere $75.

#3 The Tri-Beef Burger - $125

World's most expensive burger - the Tri-Beef burger
The Tri-Beef Burger

One expensive burger was created in 2006 at the Old Homestead Steakhouse in Boca Raton, Florida. Called the Tri-Beef Burger, this is made of a blend of three different kinds of beef—American Prime, Japanese Wagyu and Argentine beef. The hamburger is served with signature Chipotle ketchup made with truffles and champagne. As if the beef isn’t reason enough to purchase this expensive burger, the restaurant’s owners donate $10 of every sale of the $125 burger to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Nike vs. iPhone vs. Apple - Gym equipment coming in July ?

Posted on June 27th, 2008 in Mobilephones by Salomonsson

Will Nike+ be available for the iPhone 3G? That’s what Thomas Ricker is speculating over on Engadget. A press release from US gym giant 24 Hour Fitness says that:

"Nike and Apple worked with major gym equipment manufacturers to make their cardio equipment Nike + iPod compatible so gym members can easily track and record workouts on cardio equipment like treadmills, stair steppers, elliptical trainers and stationary bikes."

Hmmm, is that enough evidence, though? What else points to Thomas’ theory?

Well, for Apple fans, July means IPhone Mark II, as well as the launch of the App Store. Add to that the image (see above) used on the patent application. And lastly, Nike has already stated that Nike+ will be heading to an iPhone near you soon.

But just how soon is soon, that’s what we want to know.

LG’s DARE state-of-the-art touch phone

Posted on June 26th, 2008 in Mobilephones by Salomonsson

The word is out, the product is officially available for the public.

Here is Verizon’s LG Dare offers a 3.2-megapixel camera, 240 x 400 touchscreen, microSDHC, Bluetooth 2.0, and a built-in photo editor. Available July 3rd, priced at $199.99 after rebates.

State-of-the-art mobile from LG called DARE

Let’s just put this out there: LG’s Dare is (or will be) the best touchscreen phone in Verizon’s lineup. It’s not quite as feature rich as the Instinct, but it corrects a lot of the Voyager’s flaws, from the touchscreen to the music player.

For a limited time, Verizon is giving away 8GB SD Card to new LG Dare owners who places online order and sign up for $79 Nationwide Basic plan (1350 minutes) or $99 Nationwide Basic Unlimited plan. Not a bad deal.

Apparently, Verizon couldn’t wait much longer either as they already put up the interactive userguide for the LG Dare on their website already.

New MAC-exclusive Quickcam from Logitech

Posted on June 25th, 2008 in Mac by Salomonsson

new logitech cam for mac\'s only

It initially seems odd that Logitech would launch a Mac-only webcam: All Macs but the Mini and Pro have a built in iSight camera.

Reading the specs gives the answer — the QuickCam Vision Pro is a significant step up in performance from the built-in option.

The two megapixel Quickcam can supply 720p video via an autofocus Carl Zeiss lens, and has a built in microphone.

The camera will cost $130.00 USD and – floating eerily as it does in the product shot – the Quickcam reminds me of nothing other than the Empire’s Imperial Probe Droid.
