Mr. BlurryCam, meet Dell’s first cellphone. At least that’s what the forum jockeys are claiming on Chinese site PDAFans. We have no way to authenticate the claim but whatever we’ve got here is sporting a Dell logo on a Pre-esque handset running Android somewhere in China where the handset is expected to launch by the end of the year. A scenario that matches the Dell smartphone rumors to a tee.

After “leaking” a promotional video over the weekend Nokia have officially unveiled the E72 – their new QWERTY smartphone followup to the fantastic E71- at the Connection 09 event in Singapore.
Compared to its none-too-old brother, the E72 will see its camera bumped up to 5 megapixels along with the addition of an integrated compass, an optical navigation key (not unlike the BlackBerry Gemini‘s) and sensibly a 3.5mm headphone jack. Nokia say the S60 handset features a “desktop like email experience” and will begin shipping third quarter of 2009 for $485 without contract.
Also revealed was the 5530 XpressMusic – essentially a smaller, cheaper 5800 – featuring a 2.9 inch widescreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash and a 4GB memory card. The GSM/EDGE phone doesn’t use 3G but can at least connect via wifi; it will also be available third quarter of 2009 for around $275 unsubsidized. [Nokia]
Tapulous has issued an update to their Tap Tap Revenge rhythm game which includes working push notifications, despite the fact that iPhone OS 3.0 isn’t officially available for two more days.
It certainly isn’t the most creative use of background notifications—the messages only pop up when you’re challenged by another player—and I’m already wondering how, when all kinds of apps have this capability, the iPhone’s exceedingly simple notification system will scale.
OS 3.0 users can give the free app a try now, but keep in mind that we’ll probably see more than a few push-equipped apps rolling out in the next few days, as I’d imagine Apple will want to have a few high-profile 3.0-capable downloads available at launch. Alternatively, if downloading the app, getting a friend to download the app, and having him challenge you to a Lady GaGa tap-off is a little too embarrassing for you, just watch the video below. —Thanks, Tim G! iPhone OS 3.0 may not be available to the masses for a couple days yet, but that’s not stopping Tapulous (nor Apple’s App Store overlords, apparently) from rolling out a new version of its ridiculously popular Tap Tap Revenge that’s fully ready to take advantage of push notifications right here and right now. We’ve taken the new build for a spin, and in brief, it works as designed — notification times ranged from near instantaneous to just under a minute. One of our editors here was testing on a cellular connection and the other was on a SIM-less iPhone 3G running just WiFi, so it looks like this setup will work pretty seamlessly regardless of what kind of connection you happen to be enjoying / tolerating / loathing at the moment. This video of iPhone OS 2.x running on a 24-inch multitouch monitor from Swedish design firm Dreamfield is almost certainly fake, but hey — it’s Sunday night, nothing’s going on, and we were thinking about how well touch-specific systems would work on a larger screen after seeing those CrunchPad videos anyway, so we thought we’d get some conversation going. We’d be willing to bet that a future Apple tablet has more in common with the experience shown in this video than with what we currently think of as OS X, but we’re not so certain we’re seeing anything here that makes us want to throw our mouse or keyboard away — or spend the entire day with gorilla arm. So — artfully mocked-up glimpse of the future, or just a pipe dream?
Keeping with the likely-fake theme, there’s also a probably-fake video of SNES and PS1 emulators running on the Pre, controlled by a Bluetooth gamepad. Yes, it’s incredibly awesome — and undoubtedly possible — but until we see some evidence of how things are loaded up and connected with the gamepad we’re sticking it in the fake category as well.

Seeing how these announcements are going down live in Singapore as we speak, we’ve got a few sources of live pictures of Nokia’s latest announcements coming in off the interwebs already; it’s all raw, unfiltered footage, but that’s exactly the way we like it around here. We won’t know for certain until we touch it, but at a glance, the E72 certainly looks like a worthy successor to one of the greatest phones Nokia has ever made, and the 5530 looks like the 5800 should’ve looked. What’s everyone thinking on these?
